The 49-year-old has joined the Ammies with the club sitting ninth in League Two and six points from the play-offs. Salford parted company with former boss Richie Wellens yesterday.
Wellens had only been appointed in November after leaving League One side Swindon Town to replace Graham Alexander. Former Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool and Bradford City boss Bowyer's first game in charge of the Ammies is poised to be the clash on the road against Exeter City this weekend.
