Rylan Clark has demanded critics "lay off" Scott Mills while he stands in for Ken Bruce on Radio 2.Earlier this week, the Radio 1 DJ, 49, confirmed on Twitter that he would be filling in for the iconic 71-year-old broadcaster as he takes a period of absence from the mid-morning radio programme.Scott wrote in a tweet: "All week I'm sitting in for Ken Bruce on @BBCRadio2 from 9.30am. "Each day @mimiwebb will be picking her 'Tracks of My Years' just after 11.30am."Following some criticism and negativity which came to light in wake of the announcement, Rylan leapt to his Eurovision co-star's defence.

Posting to Twitter on Monday, the 33-year-old presenter and broadcaster defended Scott and deemed him an "amazing radio host".Rylan wrote: "Scott Mills is an amazing radio host and I'm loving hearing him on our @BBCRadio2. "He's also one of the gooduns.

Lay off."Scott and Rylan recently worked together hosting the British coverage of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals.Also keen to leap to Scott's defence were his Radio 1 colleagues.

Radio 1 presenter Katie Thistleton wrote: "He's literally the best thing on the radio are people ok???"Another of the radio station's presenters and DJs James Cusack replied: "To be on before @scott_mills on Friday was nothing short of an honour.
