Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko's government ordered the flight from Greece to Lithuania to divert to Minsk, where Roman Protasevich, a journalist and blogger opposing the Belarus regime who was on board the flight, was arrested.
Belarus state media said the aircraft was diverted to the country's capital following a bomb threat. European leaders are discussing how to respond to the "outlandish actions", with UK foreign secretary Dominic Raab hinting that the government could take tougher action.
