South Lanarkshire Council is set to spend more than £1.5 million on the problem across the region. Following a route action improvement assessment of all A and B roads, 33 were found to have a higher rate of accidents than the national average.Of those, seven are set to have improvement works carried out before April.New high-grip road surfaces are set to be laid on five of the seven routes.
