TikTok over fears that they will let the military's top secret information slip. Security chiefs have urged troops to steer clear of social media platforms including the popular app by launching an advertising campaign based on old Soviet propaganda.
It comes as fears have grown that Russia will invade Ukraine which saw Brits and Americans pressed to leave the country in case there is a shutdown of airspace.
Now, the Russian military have published posters of a soldier saying ‘Nyet’ (which means no) as he hands over a phone with the TikTok logo on the screen, an edited version of a famous 1954 Soviet campaign against alcohol.The campaign mirrors the wartime message ‘walls have ears’ posters that alerted Brits to avoid careless talk that might have had life-threatening consequences during the Second World War.It has been reported that a UK-funded project is moving forward in Ukraine in a bid to tackle Russian propaganda and disinformation, reports Daily Mail.The campaign named Filter was launched last year, intending to spread awareness of how people consume information during "times of uncertainty".Head of the project Valeria Kovtun told the Mirror: "One of the priorities is the development of media literacy to make Ukrainian society more resilient to Russian propaganda."The US recently shared new intelligence of a Russian plot to use a forged footage as a pretext for an attack of Ukraine.Boris Johnson has since warned that a Russian incursion across the border into Ukraine “could be the biggest war in Europe” since the Second World War.
