It was heartbreak for Rory McIlroy after he was pipped to the post during the Olympics. He was fighting for a bronze medal which saw him in a seven-way play-off at Kasumigaseki Country Club.
It was a tense weekend as the Down man played for his life and another medal for Team Ireland. After Xander Schauffele and Rory Sababatini secured gold and silver, the rest of the golfers all zeroed in on that bronze.
Rory was playing against Great Britain’s Paul Casey, Japan’s Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama, Open champion American Collin Morikawa, Taiwanese golfer CT Pan, Chile’s Mito Pereira and Colombian Sebastian Munoz.
