Rory McIlroy's nightmare opening round at The Masters went from bad to worse after the Northern Irishman hit his own dad with a shot at the seventh-hole.
The PGA Tour no. 4 is seeking his first major win since 2014 but suffered a difficult afternoon at Augusta, carding 76 to leave him four over par and joint 64th.
McIlroy's chances of making up the gap to leader Justin Rose are now slim-to-none, while there's a real chance the 31-year-old could miss the cut altogether.His opening round couldn't have gone much worse, although there was an amusing moment at the seventh when McIlroy managed hit his dad with an errant shot.
