Irvine were subjected to chaotic scenes this evening as thousands of people attended a car cruise event. Drivers have reported gridlock on numerous roads and tailbacks that extended a few miles back as far as Tarryholme.The event is thought to be the largest of its kind held in Ayrshire since the coronavirus pandemic hit in March 2020.And motors were at a standstill on Portland Street right down to Ardagh Glass along with harbourside being swamped with carsEarlier today police warned that congestion could be an issue in the town.The statement from cops from earlier today read: "We are aware of a proposed car cruise event taking place at Irvine Beach Park today."If this event does go ahead, it will be policed appropriately and anyone.
