Former centre-back Rio Ferdinand has welcomed Ralf Rangnick to Manchester United following confirmation that he has been appointed as the club's new interim manager.
The German, who has been poached from Russian heavyweights Lokomotiv Moscow, has signed a six-month contract at Old Trafford and will oversee first-team matters until the end of the season.
Rangnick, who faces an anxious wait to see if he will he able to take charge of Thursday evening's clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford, with the German waiting on all of the formalities concerning his work visa to be concluded, will then move into a consultancy role, with United confirming that he will be in that position for two years.
