Jones has been out with a long-term injury since the 2019/20 season and hasn't featured for the club since January 2020. Former United defender Ferdinand voiced some harsh comments about Jones on his Vibe with FIVE show, claiming the centre-back should leave the club on a free after failing to make a single appearance over the course of the past 18 months.
The comments did not to go down too well at United, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer jumping to the player's defence in his Friday night
