Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he was left "numb" after he was brutally axed by ex-Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward just 10 minutes after a game.Ferdinand became a six-time Premier League champion during his tropy-laden stint at Old Trafford, which extended beyond a decade.
But the classy centre-back's time in Manchester came to an abrupt and messy end at the end of the 2013/14 campaign.The 43-year-old - who saw out his playing career at QPR after leaving United - has made no secret of the fact that he was unhappy with the way that Woodward handled his exit from the club.And Ferdinand has now revealed that the former United chief bluntly told him he was being released in the dressing room immediately after one of the final games of the season.Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: "We played Southampton away, and I'd asked a couple of times if I was getting a new deal or not.
I was told the manager hasn't worked out what he's doing yet and it gets delayed. Vidic knew; he was told he wasn't going to be renewed, so he got to have a little send-off at the end.
I wasn't even thinking about myself."My genuine feeling was the fact that the club had told Vida he wasn't staying, Patrice Evra wasn't staying, Ryan Giggs wasn't staying.
