Rangers fans celebrate after Liverpool's new Jurgen Klopp mural defaced by blue paint

Liverpool mural of Jurgen Klopp has been vandalised ahead of the Champions League group stage clash with Rangers.Pictures and footage emerged on Tuesday morning of a new mural dedicated to Reds manager Klopp having been defaced with blue paint.

But Rangers fans, who will travel in their thousands for the match at Anfield, poked fun at the incidents.One Rangers supporter tweeted: “Never seen so many folk angry about a mural hahahah.” Another commented on a tweet demonstrating the damage: “Excellent content would view again.”A third added: “the quote tweets,” along with several laughing face emojis while another wrote: “Lovely stuff.”Police confirmed that an investigation has been launched and officers are working with Liverpool FC officials to check CCTV and identify possible suspects.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm we are investigating offensive graffiti in Anfield and three murals that were damaged in the area.
