Raheem Sterling opened his account for the season with two goals and new signing Ferran Torres claimed his first for City on his full debut as Pep Guardiola's side cruised to victory.
Following the chastening 5-2 defeat to Leicester, Guardiola could have picked a weakened side, particularly with so many absentees and a testing Premier League away to Leeds on Saturday.
But Guardiola chose a strong side and his team selection was vindicated with a comfortable win, while there was also an impressive debut from 18-year-old academy forward Cole Palmer.
