One of the Queen's final acts before her death was to ensure that one of her most trusted confidants was able to stay on in her grace-and-favour home at Windsor.
Angela Kelly, a docker's daughter from Liverpool, began working for the royal household as an Assistant Dresser. She soon became close to the late monarch who saw her as indispensable.
As a reward for her service the Queen has given her a grace-and-favour home a short walk from Windsor Castle.The Queen's staff will be typically given just a month's notice at the end of her reign before they find out if they will be redeployed to another Royal household or whether they must look for alternative employment.
