Paris Saint-Germain and Mauricio Pochettino have finally reached an agreement for the manager to leave the club this summer.Pochettino won the first league title of his managerial career last month after dominating Ligue 1 with PSG.
The Argentine was also able to clinch the Coupe de France in the previous campaign after missing out on the league.Yet the overwhelming consensus among the PSG hierarchy and French media is that the 50-year-old’s time with the French club has largely been a disappointment.
They failed to retain the domestic cup this season and were knocked out of the Champions League in embarrassing fashion after throwing away a 2-0 lead on aggregate to Real Madrid. And with the Champions League having been PSG’s main target in recent seasons, The Athletic reports Pochettino’s time in Paris has come to an end.
The report claims a mutual agreement was met at last week’s meeting that the ex-Tottenham boss’ departure would benefit both parties. It is understood the final details will still need to be finalised, though PSG have already begun looking for a successor.
