But if there's one thing we all know, it's that being in your teen years is also a pretty awkward time and one thing we end up finding more embarrassing than anything else at that age is our parents.
And it seems even the Royal Family aren't immune to this feeling. It turns out that when Prince William finally became a teenager, his mum, Princess Diana, couldn't resist playing a little joke on her son and getting him a rude birthday cake.
Instead of opting for a classic victoria sponge or a Colin the Caterpillar (or a Cuthbert for that matter), Diana had a sweet treat made for William that made him turn 'bright red'.
