The Queen's husband, Prince Philip, has died at age 99 on Friday 9 April, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. A statement read: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. "His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. "Further announcements will made in due course. "The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss." The Duke of Edinburgh had been due to turn 100 in June.The death comes after Prince Philip was discharged on March 17 from his longest ever stay in hospital after battling an infection and undergoing surgery for an underlying heart problem.
