Prince Charles was hoping to spend some time with his grandchildren, according to a royal source, but his hopes may be dashed due to Prince Harry’s security concerns.The Prince of Wales has reportedly invited Harry, Meghan Markle, Archie and Lilibet to stay with them when they visit the UK.However, Harry’s recent statement regarding returning to the UK after applying for a judicial review against the Home Office over the Duke of Sussex paying for police protection.Charles has not seen Lilibet in person after she was in the US in June and has not seen Archie since Harry and Meghan moved to California.According to a source, Charles has been speaking to Harry and the family over video calls that have been described as “enjoyable”.
Speaking to The Mirror, the source claimed: “The Prince of Wales has been saddened that he hasn’t had the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, which he really does miss. “He is a fantastic grandfather and loves playing the role immensely and it’s certainly fair to say he feels there is something missing from his life without the ability to get to know Harry’s children.“This is something he is hoping to remedy which is why he made the gesture for Harry, Meghan and the children to stay with him if they wanted to, whenever they may come home for a period of time.”Harry left royal working with Meghan in 2020 and tensions with the Royal Family are said to have escalated over their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.The interview saw Harry and Meghan male claims that a senior royal had raised questions over Archie’s skin colour.However, the palace did not respond directly to these allegations and said the matters raised in the bombshell interview would be done internally.
