President Michael D Higgins has been leading the heartfelt tributes paid to Irish actor Tom Hickey following his death. The iconic actor was most well-known for his role as Benjy in The Riordans.
He was also one of the founding members of Dublin Focus Theatre, where he performed in a number of ground-breaking productions including Antigone, Miss Julie, The Night of the Iguana and Uncle Vanya.
President Higgins shared a beautiful tribute to the megalith of Irish theatre and film. ‘It is with great sadness that Sabina and I learned of the death of Tom Hickey, one of the greatest actors of his generation, giving over six decades to his profession.
