A postmaster sold her home to pay back money she was accused of stealing that she claims disappeared through a computer glitch.
Janet Skinner was a hard-working employee of the Post Office in Bransholme, Hull when money started going missing from the company's accounts.
The 48-year-old called for an audit as soon as she realised and was immediately suspended, Hull Daily Mail reported. Despite denying she ever took the money Janet was advised to plead guilty by Karl Turner, now Hull East MP, in a bid to have the charge dropped.
The attempt to avoid prison backfired and Janet was locked up for nine months after the judge deemed the missing £59,000 too much for a suspended sentence. Were you affected by the Post Office Horizon scandal?
