County district attorney’s office, Smith faces two charges, one count of animal cruelty and one of arson. A motive for the attack on the pup has not yet been disclosed.It is alleged that he hung Hennessy, his family's Welsh corgi mix, from a fence on August 22.
Prosecutors have claimed that he then used lighter fluid as a "deadly and dangerous weapon", dousing the poor pooch before burning.
