Emergency services were called to a blaze at a property on Cannon Walk at around 9.45am this morning (Easter Monday). It started on the first floor of a building, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said.
A 34-year-old woman was rescued from the building by neighbours before firefighters arrived. She suffered 'severe' smoke inhalation and was unconscious when crews arrived.
The woman was treated by paramedics and a fire service trauma technician. An air ambulance also landed nearby. The woman was taken to hospital
