A police officer has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed while on duty. Hampshire Police were called to an address in Basingstoke following concern for someone's welfare on Easter Sunday at around 4.30pm.
One of the officers was attacked by a man at the address in Churchill Way and was taken to North Hampshire Hospital, the force said.
His injuries are not considered life-threatening and a 43-year-old has man been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. A resident in the same apartment block told the the assailant had stabbed the police officer and that the seventh floor of the block was cordoned off.
