Police increase patrols after rumours of illegal rave over Bank holiday weekend

Officers and a charity are urging those behind the rumoured gathering at Rivington near Bolton to think again. Fines of £10,000 were previously introduced to deter anyone planning events in contravention of coronavirus guidelines.

Anyone found to be organising such events could be hit with the hefty bill. And the Rivington Heritage Trust, which works to preserve the area which includes Rivington Terraced Gardens, has urged people to stay away.
