A police commissioner who was accused of victim blaming after he made controversial comments in the wake of Sarah Everard's murder has resigned.
Philip Allott's resignation comes just hours after local politicians cast a formal vote of no confidence in the North Yorkshire police boss.
The Police and Crime Commissioner had initially said he wanted to try to regain the public’s trust after admitting that his comments were “absolutely ridiculous” and “pathetic”.
