The planning committee’s first meeting of the new municipal year could see the next phase of the £4bn Northern Gateway project gain planning consent.

Townhouses and apartments in a 34-storey tower and mid-rise blocks are proposed on the former site of the Gould Street Gasworks in Collyhurst.

Gasworks New Town is the name given to the £220m scheme by Southvalley Estates Ltd, a subsidiary of the MCR Property Group which has owned the site since 2015.
