Pickpockets distract OAP at cashpoint with map by 'asking for directions' in scam

Police are hunting for pickpockets who distracted an OAP by asking for directions, before he discovered a large sum of money was missing from his jacket.

Seconds after the pensioner withdrew money from the Barclays ATM in Longton, pickpockets used a map to distract him. The man and woman approached the elderly victim as soon as he withdrew the money, he then discovered the money was gone, Stoke on Trent Live reports.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the incident which occurred in The Strand at midday on March 16.
