Coronavirus vaccines are highly effective against hospitalisation from the Delta variant, according to new analysis. Data released today (June 14) from Public Health England shows that people who have both doses of the Pfizer or AstraZeneca jab are highly protected against serious illness.
Research suggests the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is 96 per cent effective against hospitalisation from the Delta variant after two doses.
The Oxford-AstraZeneca jab is believed to be 92 per cent effective after two doses. These are comparable with vaccine effectiveness against hospitalisation from the Alpha (UK) variant.
