Peter Schmeichel says his biggest regret from his time at Manchester United was leaving the club too soon. The legendary Red Devils goalkeeper spent eight seasons at Old Trafford, where he won five Premier League trophies.

In his final season in 1999 the Dane won the Champions League for the first and only time in his career as the Red Devils achieved an historic treble.

But the dramatic European final victory over Bayern Munich was Schmeichel's last match in a Manchester United shirt, with the shot-stopper completing a move to Sporting Lisbon in that summer transfer window.
