Manchester United fans were left baffled as club hero Peter Schmeichel named his favourite Red Devils player. The former Danish goalkeeper spent eight seasons at Old Trafford, making nearly 400 appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson.
And the 56-year-old helped United to the 1998/99 treble alongside players such as David Beckham and Roy Keane. He has been followed by some incredible shot-stoppers such as Edwin van der Sar and David de Gea.
The Spaniard is the current holder of the No.1 shirt, just four appearances behind Schmeichel’s attendance figure. But the 29-year-old was not the Dane’s choice for favourite current United player.
