Thomas Sorensen has revealed how Peter Schmeichel almost got him a move to Manchester United early in his career. Former Denmark international Sorensen spent 15 seasons in the Premier League, turning out for Sunderland, Aston Villa and Stoke before he eventually retired with Melbourne City.
The veteran goalkeeper also made more than 100 appearances for the Danish national side, where he succeeded close friend Schmeichel as their No.1.
However, if things had turned out differently he might have had the opportunity of replacing Schmeichel at Old Trafford as well. "In 1997, in December, Peter Schmeichel had organised for me to go for a week's training with Manchester United," Sorensen told the What the Falk!
