PETER Jackson, the director behind the documentary The Beatles: Get Back, has hit back at their fans after they complained the series was “boring” and “unnecessarily long”.

Best known as the director for The Lord of the Rings, Peter had reportedly gone through 60 hours of personal footage from the 1970 film Let It Be to piece together the three-part documentary.

The series is centred around the making of The Beatles' twelfth and final studio album of the same name - but fans aren’t happy.

The series ended up totalling a whopping 468 minutes in running time, with each episode lasting between two to three hours - and some fans have deemed it as "pointless".
