Three dead and 24 injured after 6.2 earthquake strikes Indonesian hotspot island
Sulawesi island, the country's disaster mitigation agency said.The epicentre of the quake was 138km northwest of Parepare, at a depth of 10 km, where around 140,000 people live.Several thousands panicked residents fled their homes to seek safety and shelter after the incident.The earthquake did not trigger a tsunami warning but was felt strongly for around seven seconds, the statement said.A hotel and the office of the West Sulawesi governor were severely damaged and electricity supplies were also down.Sulawesi is an island east of Borneo and comprises of several long peninsulas from a mountainous centre.It's best known for its coral reefs and diving sites, museums and historic parks.This is the second quake to hit the island, as hours
