Drivers of 60mph Tesla flying car Jetson One ‘won’t need a licence'
Drivers of the Tesla flying car, called the Jetson One, will not need a licence, it has been reported.The Jetson One is designed for a single passenger and due to its classification as an ultralight aircraft, motorists won't need a license. Tomasz Patan, the founder of Jetson – a Swedish company that invents electric aerial vehicles – said there was a successful flight of the Jetson One after just one month of its concept being finalised in 2018.READ MORE:Tesla owners will soon be able to play videogames in the driver's seat with Steam updateThe Jetson One contains eight electric motors which gives it a top speed of 63mph , while its Tesla battery cells provides a flight time of up to 20 minutes.Elon Musk, founder of Tesla, has previously teased about flying Tesla Roadsters.The vehicle is able reach an altitude of 1,500ft above ground level and can support a pilot weighing up to 210lbs.The Harry Potter-esque vehicle was officially revealed in 2021 as Jetson have become the first company to make the purchase of a one-seater vehicle commercially available and will set back potential owners £68,000.Known as an eVTOL, or electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, the Jetson One's status as an ultralight aircraft comes from the vehicle only weighing 190lbs.In June, Patan released a video of himself using the aircraft for a three-minute commute from his home to his office, which according to Patan, decreased his commute time by 88%.He said: "It's extremely easy to operate because we have a flight computer onboard and all steering is a fly-by-wire system.
