Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was named Favorite Movie at the 2023 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards tonight. DeBose takes the Oscar stage following her viral rap at February’s BAFTA ceremony, which shouted out female nominees including Angela Bassett and Viola Davis. DeBose won the supporting actress Oscar in 2022 for “West Side Story,” marking her first Academy Award nomination.

Final Oscar balloting starts today. The 9,579 eligible Academy voters are now going to make their choices, and they have only until March 7 at 5 p.m. PT to do it. There is lots of speculation, but the only thing that really counts right now is what these AMPAS members check off on their digital ballots. Good luck, everyone.

Melissa McCarthy was seen for the first time in character as Ursula in a new trailer for Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid on Tuesday.As Halle Bailey, who stars as Ariel in the highly-anticipated film, swam through the ocean singing Part of Your World, fans got a first glimpse of the villainous sea witch, who convinces the youngest of King Triton's seven daughters to give up her voice in exchange for human legs.In the final seconds of the preview, McCarthy can be heard cackling in the darkness as she gazes into the camera while covering most of her face with a slimy tentacle. While only her eyes and forehead were visible in the footage, the 52-year-old actress rocked thin, super-arched eyebrows, purple face makeup, a dark eyeshadow and black liner.Additionally, Bailey can be seen leaning in for a kiss with Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King), after tickling a pufferfish.

The upcoming musical, directed by Rob Marshall, reimagines the original 1989 animated film with live actors. The new adaptation will once again see the mermaid Ariel fall for a human prince who lives above the water, spurring a devilish plot from the nefarious Ursula. Halle Bailey stars as Ariel, alongside Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder and Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian.
