Tom Barrack, Former Trump Adviser, Arrested and Charged With Acting as Agent of Foreign Government
Jordan Moreau Tom Barrack, who was the former chair of President Donald Trump’s inaugural committee in 2017, was arrested Tuesday on charges of acting and conspiring to act as an agent of the United Arab Emirates to unlawfully influence foreign policy positions of the presidential campaign and administration, according to the Justice Department.Barrack, Matthew Grimes of Colorado and Rashid Sultan Rashid Al Malik Alshahhi of the UAE were part of a seven-count indictment unsealed in a New York federal court on Tuesday. Barrack was also charged with obstruction of justice and making multiple false statements to federal law enforcement agents.
