Freddie Gibbs make his film debut, with a starring role in the forthcoming Down With The King.The movie sees Gibbs star as Mercury “Money Merc” Maxwell, a superstar rapper who is sent by his manager to a farm in the countryside in order to escape the pressures of fame in the city.The first full-length trailer arrived yesterday (May 23), and sees a glimpse of Maxwell’s high-profile celebrity life before cutting away to a plaintive look at his time in the countryside.Initially there on a creative retreat, the trailer shows Maxwell bonding with the local community, working on the farm, and eventually becoming conflicted when it comes to returning to his old life.The film is directed by Diego Ongaro and also stars Bob Tarasuk, Sharon Washington, and Jamie Neumann. Gibbs is also executive producer.The film, which received its Cannes debut as part of the ACID (Association for Independent Cinema and its Distribution) lineup, was also awarded the Grand Prize at the Deauville American Film Festival.

This show is the final chance to catch her in London before All Points East.Tickets for all three shows will go on sale this Thursday (May 12) at 10am.

Freddie Gibbs has enlisted Rick Ross for a new collaborative single, sharing a punchy cut titled ‘Ice Cream’.The track was produced by Kenny Beats, and is built around a sample used by Wu-Tang Clan‘s RZA and Raekwon for the latter’s 1995 single, also titled ‘Ice Cream’, which appeared on his ‘Only Built 4 Cubin Linx’ LP.Gibbs and Ross pay homage to Raekwon’s ‘Ice Cream’ throughout their cut, notably in the accompanying music video. In it, we see Gibbs riding around in an ice cream van, mirroring footage from Raekwon’s ’90s clip.

Denzel Curry has shared T-Pain collaboration ‘Troubles’, the third single to be lifted from the rapper’s forthcoming album ‘Melt My Eyez See Your Future’ ahead of its arrival this Friday (March 25).‘Troubles’ features production from Kenny Beats, who Curry teamed up with back in 2020 for their ‘Unlocked’ EP (along with its remix project, ‘Unlocked 1.5’, the following year.) A release date is yet to be confirmed.The latest song has been produced by Powers Pleasant and features Slowthai on the song’s chorus.The video for the song was filmed on location in Peru, ‘Zatoichi’ and follows on from the Sci-Fi Western visuals seen in the recently-released single ‘Walkin’.Watch the video here:Speaking about his upcoming album, Curry said: “I like traditional hip hop, I like drum and bass, I like trap, I like poetry, so a lot of that is going to be interwoven in this album including jazz and a lot of genres that I came up on as a kid and just being in my parents’ house.”The follow up to 2019’s ‘Zuu’, he added: “This album is made up of everything that I couldn’t give you on TA13OO or Imperial because I was going through depression anger issues.”Curry also announced details of North American, UK and European tour dates for 2022.
