James Corden's final Carpool Karaoke had fans sobbing as he and singer Adele became emotional as they reminisced on their friendship. The pair discussed everything from life in LA to Adele's songwriting inspiration during the sing-along session, ahead of Corden’s last episode of The Late Late Show.

Adele has said that the first verse of her song ‘I Drink Wine’ was partly inspired by a long conversation she had had with James Corden.‘I Drink Wine’ appeared on her 2021 album ’30’. “How can one become so bounded by choices that somebody else makes? How come we’ve both become a version of a person we don’t even like?” she asks in its opening lines.The revelation came during Corden’s last ever episode of the popular Carpool Karaoke segment as he prepares to step down as host of The Late Late Show. Adele said the idea for the song came to her during a six-hour conversation as they travelled home from a holiday together with their families.She credited Corden and his family as being “so integral in looking after me” and her son Angelo after her divorce from Simon Konecki in 2019 [via BBC].However, Corden turned to her for advice when he admitted he wasn’t happy in America, which she said made her feel “unsafe”.“You seemed down.

James Corden may not feel entirely ready to leave  but he's confident it's the right decision. The comedian spoke with ET ahead of his final show on Thursday, explaining why he felt «compelled» to organize his departure now. «You don't want to be making a mistake but I just feel compelled to do it,» Corden told ET's Nischelle Turner. «I feel like I've got to, I feel like if I don't leave now, I never will...or it will be me just being pushed out the door.» Corden first announced plans to leave in April 2022.

She then added that she can't sing without closing her eyes, which, considering they were about to start karaoke could have been cause for concern.
