Sam Fender has announced special celebratory Newcastle editions of his next album by sharing QR codes across the city.The announcement comes ahead of the singer-songwriter’s long-awaited live shows, which will see over 100,000 fans flock to Newcastle’s St James’ Park stadium this weekend.The first show of the two-night residency will take place tonight (June 9), and will see the Geordie artist and his band perform the biggest gig of his career so far. Support acts for the show include Hector Gannet, Holly Humberstone and Inhaler.The latter of the two shows will be held at the same venue tomorrow (June 10), and will feature support from Holly Humberstone, Wunderhorse and Ernie.

The 22-year-old music extravaganza kicked off Europe’s festival season with its four-night bow in Barcelona this past weekend. Featuring multiple headliners – Blur, Halsey, Kendrick Lamar, Depeche Mode, New Order, Calvin Harris and Rosalia — on side-by-side interchanging stages, some 70,000 revelers attended daily, taking in the grounds of the city’s Parc del Forum and its myriad entertainment, activity and food options (including a full Primavera Pro conference track for industry attendees).  While at a map’s glance, it seemed as if acts on the smaller stages would drown each other out, the organizers choreographed the schedule so expertly that any conflicts didn’t feel insurmountable. It also helped that there were 317 acts to choose from, spread out over 10 stages and as many acres lining the city’s port. According to the fest, 193,000 attended Primavera’s three main days, with the largest crowd gathering for the final night where the main draw was Spain’s own Rosalia — evident from the scores of fans wearing red and black, the colors of her latest project, “Motomami.” 

NME‘s The Cover star d4vd has wrapped up his sold out concert at the Islington Assembly Hall in London, which featured Holly Humberstone as a special guest.The show, which took place on May 30, saw d4vd perform an array of his biggest hits, including ‘You & I’, ‘Fly Away’, ‘Sleep Well’, ‘Take Me Back To The Sun’ and ‘Romantic Homicide’ among others.What concert-goers didn’t expect, however, was a surprise appearance by fellow musician Holly Humberstone, who joined d4vd onstage 10 songs into his setlist. Yard Act have been named in a new study as this summer’s most-booked new music act on the European festival circuit.The annual study, which is conducted by the European talent exchange programme ESNS Exchange, sheds a light on “the most promising European emerging acts of the moment”.Yard Act have come out on top of this year’s study, racking up 11 bookings at ESNS Exchange-affiliated festivals in 2022.The four-piece are three ahead of Ukrainian rapper Alyona Alyona, Priya Ragu and Wet Leg, who have eight European festival bookings each.

George Ezra has announced the Australian leg of his ‘Gold Rush Kid’ tour, taking his titular third album Down Under at the end of October.He’ll play in Eora/Sydney first, hitting the Aware Super Theatre on Saturday October 29, before seeing out the month with a gig at Naarm/Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Monday October 31.
