The brilliant pictures of a day at the fair in a working class town in the 1960s
direct to your inboxIt is a glorious picture of the innocence of childhood.A lad, dizzy with excitement, at the fairground. The boy is Ian Munro, sat on a kiddies' ride.It was autumn 1964 and he was one of hundreds of people who rolled up to Silcock's Fair which had pitched in Legh Street, Patricroft, Eccles. The image was taken by George Shepherd who, with his new wife, June, had walked over from their then home in nearby Aldred Street.George also captured lovers in a clinch on the Noah's Ark ride; the shooting range; the dodgems; and the hook a duck game.
