Emmerdale's Viv star set to 'return from dead' as Deena Payne drops huge comeback hint
Emmerdale star Deena Payne has hinted that her character Viv Hope could soon make a huge return to the ITV soap - 11 years after her on-screen death. And she could be bringing a rather unexpected co-star along for the ride.Deena, 67, played Viv on-screen for an incredible 18 years, before her character - best known for her iconic relationship with husband Bob, short skirts and backcombed hair - was killed off in a fire in 2011 when the Post Office exploded.Alongside her during the explosion was Terry Woods (Billy Hartman), one of Viv's many love interests - and both were killed instantly in the blaze. But with the firefighters unable to enter the building because of the ferocity of the flames, and Viv's remains later carted back to Essex where she originally hailed from, fans didn't see either of their bodies. And in an exclusive interview with Daily Star, Deena has suggested the two could soon be back in the Dales - and that they never actually left. She explained: "You never know, do you? They never saw my body - in fact, they didn’t even put me in a graveyard in Emmerdale, they just sent my gubbins back down south - I don’t even know where they went!"I would say that all this time, Viv and Terry have been in the woods, and they’ve survived in their way."Deena added: "Terry's got a really long beard but no hair on the top and Viv has got quite long hair, and probably just as much hair on her chin as he has! And they would be a bit hippy-like.

Emmerdale Viv star Deena Payne unrecognisable in snaps from secret pop star career
Emmerdale fans might not know that one of the ITV soap's biggest stars had a secret career in pop music before entering the Dales.Deena Payne, best known for playing the late Viv Hope in the soap, was actually a part of girl band Cats UK before finding fame as an actress.Deena played Viv from 1993 until she was killed off in a fire in 2011.But before that, the star was best known as a singer, and had various relationships with musicians including percussionist Frank Ricotti, who played with Elton John among others. She is now married to Steve Grant, a musician from The Sweet, and the two share a son.But Deena looked completely unrecognisable as a member of girlband Cats UK.In promotional pictures of the band, its four members - including lead singer Bea Rowley - can be seen in skintight hot pants and tight tops featuring intrinsically 70s shoulder pads. With her dark brunette hair parted in the middle - and not backcombed like Viv’s used to be - Deena stood with her fellow band members with her hands behind her back as they wowed in the clinging ensembles.Deena blasted her way into the charts with novelty pop song Luton Airport in 1979. The track reached Number 22 in the UK Singles Chart, and was inspired by a rather odd advert. In 1977, drinks brand Campari released a TV commercial which showed actress Lorraine Chase being wooed by Jeremy Clyde.
