‘Gears Of War’ studio reveals Unreal Engine 5 tech demo
The Coalition, which worked on Gears Of War 4 and 5, has shown off a new tech demo built in Unreal Engine 5.Titled ‘Alpha Point’, the tech demo shows off the level of visual fidelity the team may aim for in any future titles. The Coalition presented the trailer at GDC 2021 last week but has since made it available on YouTube.Alpha Point features real-time lighting and reflections and has over one million triangles, which are the polygons used to create and render video game assets.Technical director Kate Rayner and technical art director Colin Penty, who presented the demo at GDC, also revealed a real-time character rendering test.
