Pep Guardiola has sent a heartfelt message of support to Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson following the news of the death of his father.

Jose Becker, 57, was swimming in a dam near his holiday home in the southern region of Brazil, near the town of Rincao do Inferno on Wednesday, and police later located his body during their search at 11:59pm.

They are not treating the death as suspicious and there are no signs of foul play. Tributes have been pouring in from around the world of football, and Guardiola posted from his own Twitter account to send his condolences to Alisson. "I and all of my colleagues and players at @ManCity send our heartfelt sympathies to @Alissonbecker and his family following the tragic and sudden death of his father,"
