The 50-year-old man is being questioned by police following the incident in Liverpool. Merseyside Police said officers were called after a blue Skoda Octavia taxi was involved in a collision with a male pedestrian, a man in his 70s.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, in Westminster Road, Kirkdale, at about 1am earlier today. At least six members of the public helped the man, diverting traffic and calling for an ambulance.
