With the scores level at 0-0, Tuanzebe headed home from a corner to seemingly give United the lead and also net his first goal for the club in the process.
Yet the strike was chalked off after replays showed Victor Lindelof had kneed a Real Sociedad defender in the head when jumping to try and get to the ball.
Speaking to BT Sport after the match, Scholes said the decision was a poor one as it had no impact on the goal."Lindelof did not mean to do it and I don’t think it affected the play anyway," he said.
