Paul Scholes believes the whole of Manchester United’s coaching staff should have left the club, saying he would have been “embarrassed” to stay.
Michael Carrick has been placed in temporary charge following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking, while fellow coaches Kieran McKenna and Mike Phelan will remain as part of the backroom staff.
Phelan’s position came under increasing scrutiny during Solskjaer’s final weeks in charge, but the assistant manager has been retained by the club, with the Norwegian the only coaching departure.
