Parents are missing out on buying cheaper school uniform for their kids as new guidance for a law that was passed earlier this year hasn’t been published yet.
The Education (Guidance about Costs of School Uniforms) Bill will see certain schools told they must keep branded items to a minimum - meaning hard-up families can buy cheaper supermarket kit instead.
The bill was given Royal Assent in April this year after first being introduced by Labour MP Mike Amesbury. It then came into force around two months later.
But despite being given the green light, the Department for Education at the time said that the full guidance for schools won’t be published until autumn.
