OUR Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen took drastic measures after a heart-breaking stillbirth at Ravenseat. The Yorkshire Shepherdess documents her life with her nine children and many animals on her Twitter and Instagram pages as well as on the hit Channel 5 programme.

On Wednesday, she shared a series of frank and honest pictures of the reality of farming life. The snaps showed a baby calf called Stormy trying to feed on her adoptive mother Lily, who had suffered a stillbirth on Monday.

Amanda wrote: "Removal of the dead calf’s is not as gory as might be the expectation but nevertheless I’ve refrained from showing too much detail. "Most important is that the tail remains complete as this is what the mother sniffs when the adoptee suckles. #yorkshire #shepherdess #calf." A previous post read: "The best way of persuading Lily [cow] that Stormy the calf is her own is to use stillborn calf’s skin to disguise her.
