Danish director Thomas Vinterberg's Oscars win was tinged with sadness as he explained he wanted to include his daughter in the project before her death.
The 51-year-old director broke down in tears as he delivered his acceptance speech at the 93rd Academy Awards on Sunday night.
He landed the Best International Feature Film award for his film Another Round – filmed in Danish. Dedicating his win to his daughter, Thomas explained that his 19-year-old daughter Ida had died in a car accident while filming the project.
He had intended to include Ida in his film, by filming in her former school and to include her and her friends as some extras.
