'One of kind' children's entertainer dies after Covid battle

A popular children's entertainer who "oozed love" has died after contracting Covid. David Trinder, 63, also known as grOmmet the Balloon Wyzzyrd or Grom, performed across Cheshire and the UK for many years.

He was often spotted in Crewe and Chester entertaining families at local events or on the streets. Read more: Among his many talents, he was known for dazzling crowds with his balloon modelling and stilt-walking skills.

His partner of 21 years Anni Ali, who lived with him in Cholmondeston, confirmed Grom had died in Leighton Hospital on Wednesday, November 17 after he contracted Covid.

He had been fully vaccinated and was due to have his booster jab. Speaking to Cheshire Live, Anni, 51, said: "He was one of a kind.
